Two people were sent to the hospital after a one-car crash on state Highway 500 near St. Johns Boulevard late Monday.

The crash was reported at 9:41 p.m. on the exit from west Highway 500 to St. Johns Boulevard, according to a Washington State Patrol bulletin.

Chydell M. Davis, 21, of Vancouver lost control of his 2002 Chrysler Sebring and hit a crash cushion. Davis and his passenger, Robert J. Armijo, 22, of Vancouver, were sent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center.

Davis is in serious condition and Armijo was treated and released, hospital spokesman Ken Cole said Tuesday.

The crash was caused by speeding. Drugs or alcohol are believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, the bulletin said.
