METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt says Darren Sproles looked good in his first practice since breaking a bone in his left hand during a loss at Denver three games ago.

Sproles is now practicing with a protective glove on the hand he injured on Oct. 28 and was listed as limited in Wednesday’s practice. Vitt says Sproles will be evaluated throughout the week before the Saints decide if he can return at Oakland on Sunday to an offense that has improved lately in the running game.

The Saints ranked last in the NFL in rushing through seven games, when they averaged 72.6 yards on the ground. In each of their last two games — victories over Philadelphia and Atlanta — New Orleans has rushed for 140 yards or more.
