The Bank of America Charitable Foundation has awarded $241,780 in grants to 19 Portland-area nonprofit groups in the fiscal year’s third quarter.

Among the organizations receiving grant money was Operation Hope, a national organization with a Portland office. A $10,000 grant will support an initiative to provide personal-finance education to some 555 low-income elementary, middle and high school students in Vancouver at Fort Vancouver High School, Lewis & Clark High School, Jason Lee Middle School, Roosevelt Elementary and Fruit Valley Elementary.

The grants focus significantly on education and workforce development, with $216,780 going to local nonprofits working on enabling people to achieve the education and skills needed in today’s workplace. The remaining money went to nonprofits focused on community needs.
