No. 4 Bama gets bounce-back game against FCS WCU

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama’s bounce-back game shouldn’t present much of a challenge.

The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide faces struggling Football Championship Subdivision team Western Carolina on Saturday a week after losing to No. 9 Texas A&M.

That means the most important games Saturday for Alabama’s national title hopes will be played elsewhere by unbeaten contenders Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame.

Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron says the Tide must “win out, take care of business and just control what we can control.”

The Catamounts are 1-9 in coach Mark Speir’s first season. Speir has some experience with Alabama’s challenge of defending a national championship. He was an assistant coach on the Appalachian State teams that won three consecutive FCS titles from 2005-07.
