Sheriff’s deputies on Friday morning detained two individuals suspected of burglarizing a Truman area home.

A juvenile male, whose name is not available, and Devonte R. Pankey, 19, were booked into jail on suspicion of residential burglary.

Deputies were first alerted to two suspicious men walking around houses near Northeast 51st Street and 40th Avenue just after 11 a.m., sheriff’s Sgt. Shane Gardner said. Deputies responded to the area and found the two men, who fled through backyards when they saw the deputy.

Deputies found evidence that a home near where the suspects were first spotted was broken into. Another deputy reported seeing one suspect dump items out of a backpack as he fled, Gardner said.

A K9 eventually found the first suspect on the 5000 block of Northeast 52nd Street. He was sent to the hospital to be treated for a dog bite.

The other suspect was eventually found in the area and taken into custody.
