ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Blaise French scored a career-high 22 points to lead Saint Peter’s to a 68-64 victory over Cornell in a nonconference game Friday night.

The Peacocks, who went 5-26 last season, are 3-0 for the first time since the 1990-91 season.

The Big Red (1-2) trailed 64-53 with 2:44 remaining after Desi Washington hit a 3-pointer for Saint Peter’s, but Cornell scored the next nine points. Nolan Cressler’s 3-pointer after a steal by Galal Cancer made it 64-60, and a layup by Cancer with 1:32 left made it a two-point game.

After the teams traded missed shots on the next two possessions, French, who made 10 of 12 shots, got inside for a layup and a 66-62 Peacocks lead. After Cancer missed a jumper, Washington hit two free throws with 11 seconds left to make it 68-62.

Devin Cherry scored 14 points, and Cancer and Shonn Miller 13 apiece for Cornell.
