Letter: Most powerful voice if from voters

The Columbian
Published: November 16, 2012, 4:00pm

Reading the Nov. 9 Columbian story “Republicans: Overhaul CRC plan,” I take offense at state Rep. Jim Moeller’s, D-Vancouver, comment, “There are a lot more powerful voices than Jaime Herrera Beutler that want this project to go through,” in reference to Rep. Herrera Beutler’s, R-Camas, comments about the overhaul of the Interstate 5 Bridge.

The implied threat referring to Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., withdrawing funds altogether is outrageous.

Who is more powerful than we the people? We the people have voted against the current plan and the light-rail plan for a third time, so get the message. It’s time that politicians started remembering whom they work for. They were elected by the people, they represent us. We give them the authority to represent us, and it’s time they started remembering that.
