ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Drew Smith ran for three touchdowns and Albany (N.Y.) routed Central Connecticut State 63-34 Saturday to win a share of its sixth straight Northeast Conference title.

However, the Great Danes (9-2, 7-1), who scored 42 unanswered points, missed out on the league’s postseason berth. Wagner, which beat Duquesne 23-17 on Saturday, will advance based on its 30-0 win over Albany on Nov. 3.

Smith rushed for TDs of 1, 4 and 3 yards, while Omar Osbourne scored on a 16-yard run and caught a 58-yard TD pass from Will Fiacchi.

Corey Connell’s 42-yard fumble return made it 42-0 with 2:05 left in the first half.

The Blue Devils (2-8, 2-5) got on the scoreboard 4 seconds before the break on Andrew Clements’ 1-yard run.

Trailing 63-14 late in the third, Clements passed for two touchdowns and Chuck Watson had a 70-yard interception return for a score in the fourth.
