DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Mike Mayhew ran for a 5-yard touchdown and North Carolina Central committed a critical fumble in overtime as North Carolina A&T won 22-16 Saturday in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action.

The Aggies (7-4, 5-3) got an early team safety and later two rushing touchdowns in regulation from Ricky Lewis. The second gave them a 16-9 lead after three quarters. But Jordan Reid threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Lamar Scruggs in the fourth quarter to tie it at 16-all. The Eagles’ first touchdown came in the second quarter when Delson McAdams returned a missed NC A&T field goal attempt 71 yards for a score.

In overtime, Mayhew scored first for the Aggies from the 5. A two-point conversion pass failed. North Carolina Central faced a third-and-1 at the A&T 19 when Reid scrambled, was hit and fumbled. UNCC (6-5, 5-3) recovered back at its 43. Reid’s last-play pass fell incomplete.
