Western Kentucky takes down Western Carolina 92-81

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Jamal Crook and T.J. Price scored 26 points each to lead Western Kentucky to a 92-81 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday night.

George Fant scored 11 points and Teeng Akol contributed 10 for the Hilltoppers (2-1).

Trey Sumler knocked down 25 points for Western Carolina, Preston Ross added 19 and Tawaski King chipped in 15.

The Hilltoppers (2-1) defeated Austin Peay in the first game of the Cancun Challenge on Tuesday night, and Western Carolina (1-3) lost at Wichita State Thursday night.

Western Kentucky shot 50.9 percent from the field (28 of 55) and 40 percent (6 of 15) from beyond the arc. The Catamounts almost matched the overall field goal shooting (26 of 58) but were errant from beyond the arc, making only 5 of 21.

It was the first meeting between the Western Kentucky and Western Carolina in 24 years.
