PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Vinales led five players in double figures with 23 points and Central Connecticut State defeated La Salle 81-74 Sunday.

Adonis Burbage made 7 of 8 shots en route to 21 points, Matt Hunter added 12, and Malcolm McMillan and Joe Efese chipped in 10 apiece for CCSU.

CCSU (2-2) jumped out to an early 20-9 lead behind eight early points from Vinales but watched La Salle cut that deficit to 48-44 at halftime.

La Salle’s Sam Mills converted a jumper to tie the game 72-all with 3:52 left to play. But Burbage, Hunter, McMillan and Vinales combined for nine points and CCSU held the Explorers to just two points over the final three minutes.

CCSU made 14 of 16 free-throw attempts, compared to 9 of 15 for La Salle (1-1), and knocked down 7 of 14 3-pointers.

Jerrell Wright had 19 points for La Salle.
