Gilbert, Efraimson help lead Washington

Local cross country runners in top 5 of BorderClash race

Clark County high school cross country runners figured prominently for Team Washington at Sunday’s Nike BorderClash race in Beaverton, Ore.

Skyview’s Colby Gilbert placed fifth overall in the boys race as Washington scored a perfect 15 to beat Team Oregon’s 45.

Camas’ Alexa Efraimson was second overall in the girls race as Washington beat Oregon 23-32.

Gilbert completed the 4,387-meter course in 13 minutes, 51 seconds. Patrick Gibson of Squalicum won in 13:44. There were 79 runners competing.

Battle Ground’s Mark Tedder placed 12th in 14:01, and Washougal’s Sean Eustis was 36th in 14:32.

Efraimson’s time was 15:34, just behind Amy-Eloise Neale of Glacier Peak, who won in 15:33. There were 80 runners competing.

Prairie’s Nicole Goecke placed 15th in 16:40.

Camas teammates Alissa Pudlitzke and Megan Napier were 30th-31st, both in 17:01, and Maddie Woodson was 51st in 17:21.

Union’s Alexis Fuller placed 34th in 17:02, and teammate Cassie McKinney was 60th in 17:35.
