ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — Travis McKie scored 23 points, including a dunk with 18 seconds remaining that gave Wake Forest its first lead of the game in a 74-71 victory over Mercer in the Paradise Jam on Monday.

Wake Forest (2-2) trailed by 10 with 10:34 left, but chipped away at the deficit.

After the Demon Deacons went up 72-71, Mercer (2-3) turned the ball over and Chase Fisher hit a pair of free throws with 4.4 second to go. Mercer got a good look for a tying 3-pointer, but Jakob Gollon’s shot was off the mark.

C.J. Harris added 15 points and Fischer had 11 for the Demon Deacons, who had lost their first two games of the tournament to No. 21 Connecticut and Iona.

Jibri Bryan led Mercer with 14 points. Gollon added 12 and Bud Thomas 10.
