Pitt hoping streaky pattern returns versus Rutgers

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pitt’s first season under coach Paul Chryst has been marred by a lack of consistency, though there’s at least one trend Chryst hopes remains intact heading into the final two weeks of the season.

The Panthers have alternated two-game losing streaks and two-game winning streaks all fall. If form holds, it means Pitt (4-6) is ready to go on a two-game run heading into Saturday’s showdown against 21st ranked Rutgers (9-1).

The Panthers need to beat the Scarlet Knights and South Florida on Dec. 1 to become bowl eligible for a fifth straight season.

Junior wide receiver Devin Street says the underclassmen would love to send the senior class out winners, though center Ryan Turnley said there’s no danger of the Panthers taking Rutgers for granted. The Scarlet Knights pounded Pitt 34-10 last year.
