Lyons leads Air Force past Montana State 86-72

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — Michael Lyons scored 29 points and Air Force pulled away in the second half to defeat Montana State 86-72 Wednesday night.

Lyons scored seven points during a 9-0 run early in the second half that put the Falcons (5-0) ahead 53-43. Air Force led by as many as 21 when Todd Fletcher hit a jumper with 4:51 remaining to make it 83-62.

Lyons hit 11 of 15 shots, including 3 of 4 3-pointers, and also had seven rebounds. Taylor Broekhuis added 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, while Fletcher had 10 points and six assists.

Montana State (1-2) got 17 points from Flavien Davis, 13 from Xavier Blount and 12 each from Antonio Biglow and Calen Coleman.

Air Force, which is 5-0 for just the fourth time in program history, hit 10 of 22 3-point attempts, shot 59 percent overall from the floor and outrebounded the Bobcats 39-28.
