INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Data Link won in his Southern California debut Friday, beating Ultimate Eagle by 2 1/4 lengths in the $250,000 Citation Handicap at Betfair Hollywood Park.
Ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez, the 4-year-old War Front colt ran 1 1/16 miles in the Grade II in 1:41:00, and paid $7, $3.80 and $2.60. Data Link won for the seventh time in 15 starts, and gave Gomez his second Citation win in a row. Gomez has won the race a record four times.
Ultimate Eagle returned $4.20 and $2.80, and Doubles Partner paid $2.60 to show.
