LAS VEGAS (AP) — Tarvin Gaines scored 12 points, pulled seven rebounds and Jacksonville State snuck past Northern Arizona 50-48 at the Global Sports Classic on Friday afternoon.

With 6 seconds to play, Gaines hit a free throw to put Jacksonville State (4-2) up by a bucket, 50-48. He missed his first free throw of the day on the following attempt and off a Michael Dunn rebound, Lumberjacks guard Gabe Rogers spotted a wide-open Gaellan Bewernick under the basket but the ball was deflected as time expired.

Turnovers plagued Northern Arizona (1-3) and the Gamecocks took advantage, scoring 26 points off of 20 turnovers for the Lumberjacks.

Darion Rackley was the only other Jacksonville State player in double figures with 10 points, which all came from the free-throw line.

Rogers scored 22 points to lead all scorers and DeWayne Russell had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
