Letter: Be pioneer in requiring belts on bus

My husband and I just completed a class on safe driving. One of the issues discussed as being extremely important was the wearing of seat belts and how they have improved the safety of all drivers and passengers. Especially our children. And we all know we either “click it or ticket.”

Why then don’t we have seat belts in our school buses? Only the bus driver is required to wear one.

Only six states in the USA mandate this safety feature for the children on school buses. Washington is not one of them. My question is, why not?
