LOS ANGELES (AP) — Maggie Lucas scored 22 of her 27 points in the second half and Ariel Edwards scored 19 of her career-high 24 points in the first half to help No. 6 Penn State hold off a pesky Detroit team 80-72 Friday in the Cal State Northridge tournament.

Lucas made two free throws late to help Penn State widen its lead to 73-65, then hit a 3-pointer with 1:31 left to give the Lady Lions (4-0) a 76-69 lead.

Edwards previously scored 17 against Iowa on Jan. 22. Edwards and Lucas were the only two Lady Lions to make outside shots with any regularity. The rest of the team was 11 for 42.

Audrey Matteson scored a career-high 20 points while Shareta Brown added 16 points and 15 rebounds for Detroit (2-2).

Penn State will face the winner of Northridge and South Alabama on Saturday.
