LILLEHAMMER, Norway (AP) — Haavard Klemetsen of Norway has taken the lead after the jumping portion of the season-opening Nordic Combined World Cup event in Lillehammer on Saturday.

The 33-year old Norwegian leaped 102 meters and scored 149 points on the Lysgaardsbakken slope, holding off both Japan’s Yoshito Watabe and three-time World Cup overall winner Jason Lamy Chappuis of France by a considerable margin.

Watabe was in second, jumping 100 meters and the Frenchman was third, having jumped 97 meters.

This is the first time Lillehammer hosts the season opening event of the Nordic Combined World Cup.
