WHISTLER, British Columbia (AP) — Germany’s Frank Rommel won a World Cup men’s skeleton race Saturday, beat Latvia’s Martins Dukurs by 0.21 seconds.

Rommel had a two-run time of 1:47.19. Latvia’s Tomass Dukurs was third in 1:47.64.

Matt Antoine, from Prairie du Chien, Wis., was the top American, finishing 15th in 1:49.19. John Daly of Smithtown, N.Y., was 19th, and Kyle Tress of Ewing, N.J., 24th.

“We’ve got a fairly new World Cup team since 2010, and our goal is to get these guys confident on every track,” U.S. coach Tuffy Latour said. “We’ll struggle on some, do well on others, but it’s all just building momentum towards World Championships this year. That’s the ultimate outcome.”
