Wyoming defeats Cal State Bakersfield 63-49

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Leonard Washington scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Wyoming over Cal State Bakersfield 63-49 on Saturday night.

Luke Martinez and Riley Grabau added 11 each for Wyoming (6-0).

Brandon Barnes scored 13, and Erik Kinney 10 to lead Cal State Bakersfield (1-5), which shot only 28 percent.

Nathan Sobey’s 20-foot jumper with 9:11 remaining put Wyoming up 43-28, and the Roadrunners drew no closer than 13 the rest of the way. The Cowboys’ largest lead was 57-35 after two free throws by Martinez at the 4:41 mark.

Stephon Carter, the sixth-leading scorer in Cal State Bakersfield history, fouled out with 6:52 remaining and finished with four points.

Wyoming never trailed, jumping out to an 18-6 lead after hitting four 3s in the first 5 minutes, including two from Martinez. The Cowboys shot 46 percent on the night.
