Pets of the Week

The Columbian
Published: November 27, 2012, 4:00pm

Bruticus is a super-sweet Chow Chow mix who came to the shelter as a stray. He already knows sit and is eager to learn more. But that may depend on what treat you’re offering. Because he is older, Bruticus would do best in a quiet home with children older than age 10. If you have any other dogs at home, please bring them down to make friends.

Gatita is a 2-year-old female domestic short-hair brown tabby. She was somewhat inconsistent with the litter box when she arrived at the shelter due to stress, but is now doing great. She will need a slow introduction to her new home and any other cats in the family. Gatita also should meet any children in the family before being adopted. She is a very sweet and talkative girl. Ask an adoptions counselor to read more about her in the surrender profile from her previous owners.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
