Esther Short — The Clark County Historical Society held its annual awards Nov. 15, honoring three county residents and two groups for dedication to local history and volunteerism. Jean Norwood, longtime community volunteer and former Vancouver city councilor (1960-67), won the Margaret Colf Hepola Heritage Award for contributing to historical preservation in the community. Norwood has spent hundreds of hours developing an oral history collection at the society's museum. The Heritage Group Award went to the Parkersville National Historical Site Advisory Committee and the Parkersville Heritage Foundation, which have completed numerous projects at the historic Parkersville Landing site in Washougal. Retired journalist Howard Gingold won the Museum Volunteer of the Year award for using his editing prowess to help publish the annual Clark County History publication for the last five years.
