North Sifton -- York Elementary School received $2,000 from Umpqua Bank as part of its first-ever Give Back to School Fund promotion. Umpqua Bank, headquartered in Portland, launched the promotion earlier this year, agreeing to add $1 to a fund for every new Like the bank received on its Facebook page. Umpqua raised more than $20,000 and distributed checks to grant-award winners. Facebook users could nominate K-12 schools for consideration to receive a donation. York Elementary, in the Evergreen Public School District, got its check during an ice-cream social and movie night earlier this month.
