Letter: Give thanks to veterans each year

This month we celebrated Thanksgiving, and for some there has been a death of a veteran, and some veterans have died on Thanksgiving. Some were so young that they never saw the fruits of their labor. They never married and raised a family so other family members could join with them at the table for Thanksgiving.

The veterans who died serving our country should never be forgotten. To veterans who have served and are still serving, we owe them more than just our thanks and prayers. We owe them a debt that can never be repaid for their sacrifice.

The very reason we can sit around our tables and enjoy Thanksgiving is because of our veterans.

So next year, fly your flag in remembrance of our veterans’ sacrifice, and honor them by saying their names while saying grace.
