ZURICH (AP) — FIFA has suspended an aide to former presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam for refusing to cooperate with investigations regarding his boss.

FIFA says it told Najeeb Chirakal he cannot work in soccer for two months “or until Chirakal cooperates with these proceedings as requested.”

Chirakal has been warned he faces being charged himself for violations of FIFA’s code of ethics.

FIFA prosecutor Michael J. Garcia is leading investigations into bin Hammam’s activities, including alleged bribery during his election challenge to FIFA president Sepp Blatter last year, plus alleged misuse of Asian Football Confederation accounts.

FIFA says Chirakal, a Qatar-based aide to bin Hammam, was asked “to provide information and documents, and failed to respond.”

FIFA has suspended bin Hammam for 90 days, through late October, while Garcia investigates.
