Hudson’s Bay — Lawyers might not be beloved in general, but local attorney Steve Horenstein was plenty popular at the Dancing With the Local Stars competition Sept. 15 at Pearson Air Museum in Vancouver. The fundraising event was attended by nearly 400 people and raised $115,000 for the Fort Vancouver National Trust and its programs. At the event, seven local “stars” teamed with Arthur Murray Dance Studio instructors and learned dance routines. The community was encouraged to vote for their favorite dancers with dollars online and at the event. This year’s top dollar winner was retired union leader Ed Barnes, who foxtrotted with dance instructor Kaylyn Haynes. Attorney Horenstein took fan favorite. Victoria Bradford of Comfort Interiors Inc. won best overall dance. Ryan Hart of U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s office won most creative dance. Aaron Kraft of Veolia Water was most outrageous. Community volunteer Julie Kuni was best natural talent. And Avaly Mobbs of the Building Industry Association won best costume.
