Turnout good for Camas Farmer's Market fundraiser
Camas: "Red," a Rhode Island Red hen owned by Jamie Morin, struts her stuff during the Urban Chicken and Garden Tour in Camas. "Red" came to live with the Morin family almost 3 years ago after finishing her gig as a fifth grade science project at Grass Valley Elementary.

Camas -- More than 100 people participated in the Urban Chicken and Garden Tour, a fundraiser for Camas Farmer's Market, on Sept. 15-16. The backyard chicken coop and garden tour event offered "lots of chicken, a few geese, some beautiful gardens full of fall harvests of squash, tomatoes, beans, corn and peas, and plenty of great information about raising chickens and growing vegetables in the Northwest," said Marilyn Goodman of the Camas Farmer's Market. The event raised $1,200, which will be used for supplies in the Kids Connection booth to enable the market to continue kids' activities focused on nutrition, gardening, health and physical activity.
