SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An attorney for Olympic speedskating medalist Simon Cho says his client will hold a press conference to discuss allegations in a coach abuse scandal that he tampered with a Canadian rival’s skates in the 2011 World Team Championships.

His Friday news conference comes as an independent investigative report on Jae Su Chun is scheduled to be released.

The 20-year-old Cho told reporters Sunday he expects to be suspended or banned because of tampering allegations but declined to say if they were true.

The allegations are part of a scandal involving U.S. coach Chun, accused in a demand for arbitration of ordering Cho to sabotage Olivier Jean’s skates. A dozen national team members also have accused Chun of verbal, physical and psychological abuse.

Chun has denied all allegations but is suspended.
