Fire heavily damaged a mobile home Thursday in east Vancouver.

The fire was reported at 9:59 p.m. in the Great Western Mobile Home Park, 16812 S.E. First St., Unit 12.

Neighbors reported hearing loud explosions from the double-wide mobile home as the fire set off a number of oxygen canisters inside.

Vancouver Fire Department Capt. Dave James said crews arrived at 10:04 p.m. to flames coming through the roof of the rear of the home.

Neighbors feared the woman who lived in the unit was trapped inside, and a search was launched. She was found unharmed outside the structure.

James said the fire burned the rear of the mobile home. A cause or damage estimate was not available

Efforts were complicated by low water pressure in the park, which forced crews to limit the battle against the fire in the mobile home until water tenders arrived with more water.

James said crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring home until the tenders arrived, then began fighting the fire in the first mobile home.

Crews were unable to find two dogs reported missing during the blaze, James said.
