A community dinner and forum Oct. 26 will explore the economic benefits of trails and open spaces.

John Crompton, a Texas A&M University professor, will lead the discussion and present his research at the Washington State Trails Conference in Vancouver. The forum begins at 6 p.m. in the Vancouver Hilton and Convention Center, 301 W. Sixth St.

Early registration for the event, dinner included, is $40. After Oct. 12, the price increases to $50.

The gathering will also engage trail-users and stakeholders, looking at trends and opportunities for local development and programming, according to event organizers.

The event is sponsored jointly by the Washington State Trails Coalition and the Vancouver-Clark Parks and Recreation Department.
