Quick start boosts Dayton over Davidson 38-3

DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP) — Marred by late collapses this year, Dayton made sure there would be no fourth-quarter comeback Saturday, scoring 31 points by halftime and totaling 289 yards rushing in a 38-3 victory over Davidson.

The Flyers (2-4, 1-2 Pioneer Football League) had out-gained each their previous four opponents, but had been outscored 49-15 in the final period. Dayton held fourth-quarter leads in two of the losses.

Connor Kacsor led the Flyers with 135 yards on 11 carries, including touchdown runs of 30 and 38 yards. Will Bardo rushed for 65 yards and passed for 58 yards and a touchdown for Dayton.

The Flyers held Davidson (0-5, 0-2) to 72 yards on the ground and forced two fumbles. Wildcats’ quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff completed 22 of 39 passes for 231 yards.

Dayton has beaten Davidson six consecutive times, with the Wildcats claiming only on victory in 11 games in the series.
