Sam Houston State stops Stephen F Austin 51-43

HOUSTON (AP) — Brian Bell threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score to highlight a productive third quarter for Sam Houston State in a 51-43 victory over Stephen F Austin at Reliant Stadium.

Brady Attaway threw a TD pass in the third quarter to pull Stephen F Austin (2-4, 1-1 Southland) to within 23-21, but Bell tossed a 31-yard scoring pass to Trey Diller, scored on a 1-yard run and hit Torra Williams for a 30-yard TD as Sam Houston State (3-2, 1-1) went up 44-21.

Bell finished with three TD passes and ran for two TDs. Tim Flanders rushed for 125 yards on 27 carries for Sam Houston State.

Bookie Sneed returned an interception 92 yards for a TD in the second quarter to help Sam Houston State overcome an early 14-3 deficit.

Attaway completed 39 of 76 passes for 545 yards and 6 TDs.
