SOELDEN, Austria (AP) — Bode Miller’s equipment supplier says the skier is skipping the opening race of the World Cup season to rest his surgically repaired left knee.
Miller had knee surgery eight months ago. The opening World Cup race is Oct. 28 in Austria.
Race director Rainer Salzgeber tells the Austria Press Agency on Wednesday that “Soelden is no option for Miller, he has not been able to practice a single giant slalom turn so far.”
Salzgeber says the two-time overall World Cup champion will travel to the Austrian ski resort for training. He won’t compete until the speed races Nov. 24-25 in Lake Louise, Alberta.
