Letter: Root out the obstructionists

A Sept. 20 Columbian story reported, “Republicans shelve Obama’s Veterans Jobs Corps proposal.” Remember when Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., stated, “the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

Republicans who vote down a proposal that would create jobs for any American should be fired on the spot. Declare them unfit for the job, and strip them of all benefits to include health care. That is what happens in the real world.

I also feel strongly that all politicians, when they leave office, should give a financial statement, and then compare that with the one they gave before elected. If red flags come up by comparing them, then civilians should sit on a panel to review the discrepancy. Politicians should not police themselves as the outcome is usually just window-dressing for our benefit with no consequences.
