Colby Gilbert, Skyview boys cross country
Skyview boys cross country runner Colby Gilbert was voted The Columbian’s fall sports athlete of the week in a vote by fans on Facebook.
Gilbert collected 32 percent of the 962 votes cast by fans to beat out Sammy Savage of Union volleyball. Savage had 29 percent.
A quick change in venue did not distract Colbert, as he ran to a 50-second victory in a 4A Greater St. Helens League meet with Camas.
Other nominees included La Center girls soccer player Kaitlyn Bigley, Camas boys golfer Brian Humphreys, and Camas girls swimmer Anna Panebianco.
Nominees are posted on The Columbian’s blog at www.360preps.com on Monday. Voting starts shortly thereafter at www.facebook.com/360preps and continues until Thursday evening.
