TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Olympic champion Claressa Shields stopped Dara Shen in the third round Saturday night at the National Police Athletic League semifinals in the women’s 165-pound open division.

The official stopped the bout 46 seconds into the round to give Shields her 27th career victory.

In her first bout since winning in London, Shields was leading 30-7 in points when the match was called.

The Flint, Mich., fighter took control of the bout early. Though Shen forced Shields to move around the ring to attack, Shields took advantage of her size and speed to keep her opponent on the defensive all night. Shields was up 10-2 and 19-5 after the first and second rounds.
