NEW YORK (AP) — Boisterous and La Cloche won $150,000 turf stakes Saturday at Belmont Park.
Boisterous scored a repeat win in the Knickerbocker, beating See Tobe by two lengths with Jose Lezcano up for Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey. The 5-year-old got his eighth victory in 20 starts, paying $4.10 to win as the even-money favorite. The time was 1:50.26 for 1 1/8 miles.
La Cloche, seventh at the top of the stretch, rallied to beat Embarr by 1 1/4 lengths in the Athenia for fillies and mares.
Junior Alvarado was aboard for trainer Jimmy Toner as the 5-year-old got her fifth victory in 18 starts, paying $11 to win. The time was 1:45.15 for 1 1/16 miles.
