Maysonet, Stony Brook beats Coastal Carolina 27-21

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Miguel Maysonet ran for a career-high 233 yards and two touchdowns to propel Stony Brook past Coastal Carolina 27-21 Saturday.

After a tied first quarter, Coastal Carolina (2-4, 0-1 Big South Conference) took a 14-7 lead with Jeremy Height’s 26-yard touchdown run. Height carried the ball 15 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

Stony Brook (6-1, 2-0) tied the game at 14 at halftime behind Kyle Essington’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Norell. Essington finished 10-for-13 for 181 yards and two scores. Norell caught seven passes for 127 yards.

After Maysonet’s 2-yard touchdown run gave the Seawolves their first lead, 21-14, Height responded in the fourth quarter with a 3-yard run, tying the game at 21.

With 9:37 remaining, Maysonet scored the go-ahead touchdown from 4 yards out. Stony Brook’s defense forced a fumble and a turnover on downs on the Chanticleers’ final two possessions to seal the victory.
