ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions running back Jahvid Best is still not cleared to play after spending the first six weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform list.
Detroit general manager Martin Mayhew says in a statement Monday that Best will not be permitted to return at this time, but the running back will continue to work with the team’s medical and training staffs in the hope that he’ll be cleared to play at some point.
Best hasn’t played since last October because of concussion problems. He was put on the reserve-physically unable to perform list, meaning he needed to miss the first six weeks of the season, but that time period is now over and he is eligible to be activated.
