Young of US loses to Bedene in Vienna

VIENNA (AP) — Donald Young of the United States lost 7-6 (4), 6-7 (2), 6-3 to Aljaz Bedene on Thursday at the Erste Bank Open.

Marinko Matosevic of Australia defeated wild card Dominic Thiem of Austria 6-3, 7-6 (5) to set up a quarterfinal against top-seeded Juan Martin del Potro.

The 55th-ranked Matosevic held serve throughout. Thiem had eight aces but missed out on his first career quarterfinal.

Also, Grega Zamlja edged Matthew Ebden 7-5, 6-4, and Paolo Lorenzi defeated Vasek Posposil 6-4, 6-4.
