As a regional organization advocating understanding among all faith-based communities, Circle of Peace wish to express sympathy to the Sikh community for the tragic fire that destroyed the Guru Ramdass Sikh Community’s gurdwara (temple) in Vancouver. Vancouver Fire Department reacted promptly and prevented the fire from spreading in the neighborhood. We salute these heroes for a job well done.

We also appreciate the promptness with which the FBI and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms responded to identify the cause of fire and rule out the possibility of any foul play. The recent terrorist attack on a Sikh gurdwara in Wisconsin by a white supremacist is still fresh in people’s minds. The reports from the investigating agencies will be eagerly awaited to eliminate any possibility of arson.

We want to assure our Sikh community that we stand ready to support their rebuilding efforts and share their grief.
