Minnesota forward sentenced to probation

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe (muh-BAHK'-way) has been sentenced to two additional years of probation.
It was punishment for a probation violation stemming from a Minnesota arrest July 1 for driving while intoxicated. Mbakwe was on probation for a 2009 felony battery charge in Florida.
The Star Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/XyJTHy ) that Miami-Dade, Fla. judge Jose Fernandez also sentenced him Friday to 20 hours of community service per month for the two years and he must attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings three times per week.
He had previously been sentenced to one year probation and community service in Minnesota.
A message left for a Gophers spokesman was not immediately returned Friday.
