Central Arkansas earns 24-14 win over Lamar

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Jesse Grandy had four catches for 127 yards Saturday including a game-clinching touchdown grab in the fourth quarter to give Central Arkansas their third straight win in a 24-14 victory over Lamar.

Central Arkansas (6-2, 4-1 Southland Conference) had 337 yards of total offense including Wynri Smothers who completed 20 of 27 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Up 17-7 with 10 minutes to play, Smothers found Grandy for a season-high 75-yard touchdown strike, making it 24-7 to seal the deal for the Bears.

The Cardinals fought back when DePaul Garrett scored on a 4-yard run for Lamar (3-5, 0-3) to make it 24-14 with 1:18 remaining on the clock. Garrett had 25 carries for 91 yards.

Caleb Berry had the only other score for the Cardinals on a 7-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Berry completed 11 of 19 passes for 96 yards and was sacked twice.
