Coldwater center open weekends through December

TOUTLE — The Science and Learning Center at Coldwater, former the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center, is open, the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument has announced.

The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through December. It will close January through April, then reopen in mid-May.

At milepost 43 on state Highway 504, the center will serve as an information station, rest area and indoor-outdoor picnic area for visitors.

Next year, more activity at the center is anticipate plus more visitor amenities.

Elk Bench trail starts near the building and connects with Lakes trail No. 211 along Coldwater Lake.
