Fales leads San Jose State past UTSA 52-24

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- David Fales threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns as San Jose State defeated UTSA 52-24 Saturday.

Fales completed 17 of 26 passes, including scoring throws of 36 yards to Noel Grigsby, 36 yards to Tyler Ervin and 6 yards to Ryan Otten. Grigsby had four catches for 110 yards, and Ervin added a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown among his 214 all-purpose yards.

The Spartans (5-2, 1-1 Western Athletic) forced three turnovers in the first quarter -- one on a fumble that Chris Kearney recovered in the end zone -- to lead 28-0 at the end of the period.

UTSA (5-2, 1-1), which finished with six turnovers, had 412 yards of offense. Ryan Polite completed 20 of 32 passes for 302 yards and two TDs.
