WASHINGTON (AP) — Terrence Leffall ran for 134 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries and Howard held off a late push by Morgan State to escape with a 21-20 victory Saturday in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action.

The Bison (5-2, 4-1) fell into an early 7-0 deficit on Travis Davidson’s 6-yard touchdown run for the Bears (3-4, 2-2), but scored three straight touchdowns to take a 21-7 lead into the fourth quarter — Howard’s last score was a 4-yard rushing TD by Leffall.

Morgan State cut the lead to a point on a 5-yard touchdown run by Davidson and then a 35-yard run by Robert Council with 2:29 to play. The Bears went for a 2-point conversion after Council’s score, but Ervin Gonzalez’s pass was intercepted by Tabrian Resby.

Howard recovered the ensuing on-side kick and ran out the clock for the victory.

Davidson finished with 104 yards on 27 carries.
