Letter: Put end to proposing more taxes

The Columbian

Finally the folks behind the rapid transit and light rail tax vote (C-Tran Proposition 1) have admitted the amount they are after is not adequate. The actual cost to operate light rail per year will most likely be at least double the amount, not the $2.5 million projected, which means they will be trying to dip into your pockets for more money very soon.

Also the campaign for parks (Parks Proposition 1, creating Metropolitan Park District) claims new taxes are necessary to “save the parks.” Save them from what? They’re not going away. Whatever happened to the millions we approved just a couple years ago? It’s time to tell the Vancouver City Council no new taxes. Enough is enough. Don’t be swayed by the pathetic pleas, the sky will not fall if you say “no.”
