The budget woes plaguing the Washington state parks system come to Vancouver on Thursday when the Parks and Recreation Commission meets here.

The commission will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday at Vancouver City Hall, 415 Sixth St.

In September, the commission requested $18 million in state general fund money for the 2013-15 budget cycle. But, Discover Pass revenue for June through September came in about $4.7 million short of expectations.

The parks commission will consider asking for another $9.2 million from the general fund, for a total of $27.2 million.

State lawmakers want the park system to finance itself primarily through fees rather than general tax dollars, The parks agency has been told the 2013-15 budget is being built with no general fund contribution to parks.
